I got the ick (in its milder danamae form) a full 36 hours after Dana started showing symptoms... Long after I was far, far away from any EHF foodstuffs.

chenoameg thinks it's a virus, and I tend to trust her gut on such things. Especially since she got it (twice, if you believe ringrose's description over hers...) long before EHF.

(Anyone else see EHF and initially try to expn it as Eddie From Ohio?)

In any case, chills, tossing and turning, dreams involving doing a dance that involves a lot of turns (and thus, a lot of flipping over in place in bed), no puking and mild "other digestive symptoms".

Unless maybe we're looking at two separate thingies?

Hmmm. Seems like Jonah got it overnight last night, too. I *think* we're the first cases now of SOs getting it, since that was very much not happening at the weekend.

Although if you weren't puking, it doesn't sound like the same thing.

Oh, and I hope you feel better soon. Ick, overall, really, no matter what it is.

I am sorry for your suffering, but gleeful that even when this sleep deprived I am still wise.

Get lots of sleep. Ginger ale has seemed good to many.

awwwww. Hope you feel better soon.

No, but I do like The Three Fine Daughters of Farmer Brown, or whatever that song is called.

Yes, that's what it's called. I like to put it next to Great Big Sea's "Old Brown's Daughter" on mixes. :)

The person I drove home had the “8-12 hours of puking, puking, and more puking” version. As you describe a “no puking” ick, I gotta conclude there are 2 different things happening here…

More info at this pdf; apparently it's a Thing.

I managed to sleep another four hours last night, and got up feeling vaguely normal. Then an hour later fatigue hit me and my tummy was rumbly again. I've had a couple one-hour naps since.

Once I was able to keep things down, I started using gatorade. It's not bubbly so I did not have even more gas upsetting my stomach.

But it was a full day before I actually ate anything more than a handful of pretzels.

Gatorade
Fruit Punch Gatorade is always the best rehydration thing I've found when confronted with stomach ick of any sort. Non-carbonated and full of electrolytes and not as flavorless as water. I usually use it as a Cheerios chaser when I'm up to solid food consumption in small amounts. Hope you feel better soon. -Shannon

my experience is that the same strain of virus can affect different people at, shall we say, opposite ends of their digestive tract.
