It's a trap!

Ok, I'm starting to think that McCain did vet Palin, and did know about this "scandal" with her daughter's pregnancy... and the liberal blogosphere is stepping straight into a glue trap by engaging this story. tjic's summary of the political situation we face rings true to me, here... and it's a completely predictable reaction from everything McCain should have known, when it was time to make his choice.

Don't be creeps, folks. Remember, we're "pro-choice," not "pro-abortion". Making light of this situation puts us in that latter camp in many people's minds.

I don't think Bristol Palin should be coerced, in any way whatsoever, to have an abortion. I believe women own their fertility.

I do think, and I think quite emphatically, that her mother's attitudes toward abstinence education are contributory to teen pregnancy in the US.

I have no opinion whatsoever as to whether her daughter's pregnancy is connected to abstinence education.

And I think Sarah Palin is unqualified to be President, in much the same way that I thought Harriet Miers was unqualified to be a Supreme Court justice. I was angry then at the sexist treatment that Miers received (largely from conservatives), and I am not happy with the sexist treatment that Palin seems to be getting across the board. None of that changes my belief that she should not be President.
