I Am Legend correct ending

Thanks to aetatis for this much better ending for I am Legend.

Try to watch it without reading the surrounding text; I don't know how much that text influenced my understanding of the clip I just watched.

Whoa!! That's.... yeah. I'm honestly at a loss for words watching that ending, and frankly I don't even have the context of the original to compare it to. But I agree that it's definitely moving!

When I saw the film, as a fan of the novel, this was where I was hoping it would go.

This is the ending I *thought* they were building towards. All the parallels with children and fathers and so on... although in this ending I half expected him to shoot himself after looking over at the chart of faces.

I was disappointed in the theatrical ending, and I'm glad I wasn't just hallucinating.

Correct ending? You are so lucky you live hundreds of miles away -- that right there's a gauntlet if I ever saw one. :) Glad you liked the link, though!

Funny, I thought the original ending had no hint of any of this nuance, and found it quite disappointing that they just decided to blow everything up, rather than allow the savage "vampires" to have a moment of their own form of humanity.

It was odd - I never read the book, or saw Omega Man, and I thought I saw hints of this ending coming, as I watched... and then the ending came and it was just another Hollywood Explosion™. I didn't think of this as a choice the character made - it seemed to me that the idea of the vampires' humanity was never even intended to come through in the film, that it was just my imagination.
