a sucker born every minute

My minute was a while back, but it's definitely true.

It will be mine. O, yes, it will be mine.

My current Cingular 2-year contract runs out in April. Perfect timing :)

What did you get for selling apple your soul? ;)

I don't know but I never get to tell you not to buy anything ever again. :)

what's so suckerish about wanting one? Good design, good features, time to upgrade your phone... why not?
(I'm a bad influence, huh.)

There are $599 good reasons why not. It's nice, but c'mon...

ah, but it's not *my* $599. I'm not buying one. ;-)

Two words.

I'm glad there are early adopters....
... That way I don't have to be one.

Seriously, I intend to wait til they've been out at least two or three months before buying one. And then only if there haven't been any too-serious flaws showing up.

Re: I'm glad there are early adopters....
I usually want to buy the second edition of new technology. After that they start cutting corners and things don't last as long. But the very first edition usually has problems that they haven't fixed yet.

Personally I think the battery isn't long enough for me to feel comfortable with it. Sure, my current phone doesn't give me five hours of talk time, but it doesn't encourage me to use it as a source of music when I'm stuck in an airport for hours.

And for once Apple stock went up on news.

Well, you aren't the only sucker, when I saw the iphone I was thinking that my Cingular contract is up in July...

I suppose I could justify it with the fact that I do own the stock too.

i'm sad... 1) it's frickin' expensive, even for a spiffy cell phone, and 2) service is thru Cingular (ask rob sometime about his Cingular experiences, ech).

i seriously think apple needs to rethink its premium pricing strategy. if they'd cut their prices by 20%, they'd get >20% more customers.
Jan. 10th, 2007 01:47 am (UTC)
20% more customers isn't enough. If their margin is 40% then cutting their price by 20% means cutting their margin by 50%, so 20% more customers isn't enough. They would need 100% more customers. 40% would be pretty stunning margins too, it's probably more like 15-20% at best.

Not to mention that if the number of customers goes up their margins might go down as they reach less eager customers who are more likely to need technical support or decide they're unhappy with it and return it.

It's a phone + ipod + camera + pda. I know people who would pay over $300 for one of those.

I'm anti-expensive phones, anti-PDAs, anti-ipod-lifestyle, anti-ooh-look-apple-shiny.

But I want one.

Am I changing or is it really different this time?

Can I have your ipod?
