president punch

Get a Salon Day Pass and check out the story on Bush's bulge.

Speculation is that thing on his back was an antenna.  For an earpiece.  The picture is from Fox.  The electoral-vote.com saw it, too, and I'm going to go back to my NBC recording at some point tonight and see if they have the shot.  Bush, at one point, mysteriously inserted "let me finish" in a sentence...  I remember pointing this out during the debate.

Can we get to New Orleans soon enough to try to detect, and possibly spoof, this signal for tonight?  Imagine the power!  This possibility comes straight out of any number of horrendously bad modernized Cyrano de Bergerac ripoffs...

You don't say!
Quite the interesting story.
Danny Schechter, who operates the news site MediaChannel.org, and who has been doing some investigating into the wired-Bush rumors himself, said the Bush campaign has been worried of late about others picking up their radio frequencies -- notably during the Republican Convention on the day of Bush's appearance. "They had a frequency specialist stop me and ask about the frequency of my camera," Schechter said. "The Democrats weren't doing that at their convention."

Remember when, at his White House press conference, Bush dithered, "You know, I just -- I'm sure something will pop into my head here in the midst of this press conference, with all the pressure of trying to come up with an answer, but it hadn't yet."

Did he accidentally let his secret slip?

And remember when he stomped off from a media briefing when asked about Ken Lay, and there was an obvious rectangular bulge in the back of his jacket?

I'm definitely going to be watching closely tonight!

I think it was a keeper, just like the one on Londo Mollari's shoulder!

That would explain soooo much. ;)

Rewatching the end of Chrysalis shortly after 9/11 was disturbing.
The news coverage, President Clark's speech, G'kar's speech,
and other such things were disturbing echos of things that
I was seeing on the "real" news around that time.

Bush's bulge
I was afraid to go any further when I read that sentence.

It's curious, though; if you were going to do that, wouldn't you just put the thing in your pocket?

My first thought was some sort of bulletproof vest, but that makes even less sense.

it's apparently at minute 23, so you can fast forward through your tape (tivo?)

it would be just too cool to be able to hack his frequency :) I wonder what Bush would actually repeat, he he he
