I should point out that my earlier post behind an lj-cut was actually spoiler-free, and contained information about the event itself, but not the movie.

I'd also like to commend movie studios on this new marketing scheme.  Make people conflate their emotional response to an event with their emotional response to a movie, and then solicit word-of-mouth advertising.

I really can't wait to see the final cut.

the best part of the Serenity screening

In line out front someone was yelling across the room at me, "Hey, shabby!" and we had a short conversation.  Don't even remember who it was, or what we talked about anymore...  But a few seconds later some guy walked up to me and asked if I was [my name elided to maintain the illusion that there's any semblance of anonymity left in this thing].  I did, and he said "I'm [his name also elided 'cause hey, it'd be rude to do otherwise, given the earlier excision]!"

I looked again, and indeed, he was who he said he was.  A good friend I haven't seen in about 14 years, from high school.  The member of our inner circle who lost contact most quickly after we went our separate ways.  The cool one.  You know the one.

Anyway, I yelled my email address across the room and got swept back up in the crowd.  Luckily the email address is (hopefully) easy to remember...  Should be hearing from him any time now.

Such a small, small small world.
