The Last Samurai

Somehow this movie just felt right when combined with having watched seasons 1 and 2 of Rurouni Kenshin. Some of the same emotions from Kenshin were awakened while I watched last night...

Now that would be something. A live action Kenshin movie done John Woo style. Whoa.

In some ways, The Last Samurai built on the shoulders of its predecessors. Because we've all seen Dancing with Wolves, we understand where the main character has come from. Because we've seen Seven Samurai, we can follow along with what's happening to him even as he's confused in his captivity, and well, I can't quite place my finger on what this movie inherits from Gladiator, but it's something.

I don't know how to feel about the fact that we have and We're taking advantage of Mongolia, but... it's kinda a cool hack. But really, it's pretty damn wrong from the whole hierarchical namespace standpoint. Like .tv.

So. Um. Ew, but cool, but ew. How do you reconcile that?
