You don't set down your first officer on a nearby planet for disagreeing with you. That's why you *have* a first officer.

Ever see a little movie called Crimson Tide? Now THAT would have been an awesome scenario here :)

(nods) It's almost as if he was emotionally overwhelmed by the destruction of his homeworld. Heck, if he keeps pulling stunts like that, someone might declare him unfit for command.

Of course not. You put him down on the planet when you've accurately assessed that he could sweet-talk his way out of the brig.

There should've been an adorable ice bunny that nearly ate his right hand off when it hopped over and Kirk petted it. Ah well. I guess it's Luke who's missing an arm, not Kirk, so I guess that's okay.

and instead there was just a Gratuitous Monster. I personally didn't see evidence of the kind of ecosystem it usually takes to support such a large predator, but maybe I just missed something. :P
