keyboards

This article makes me realize I must be the only person in the world to go out of my way to order a Dell keyboard for my new PC. (the one I had PCs for Everyone build for me, a few months back)

Am I the only one to appreciate the quiet perfection of these things? Sure, it's no clicky IBM keyboard, but I seem to have gotten off that kick a while back... and the layout on the Dell is just right, unlike so many others out there. Stupid Microsoft, messing with where the Insert/Delete keys go.

Though I have to admit I've started to like using my Apple keyboard (the new really flat one) with my MacBook Pro laptop on occasion, at home. I don't know that I could program with that thing though; it's just... weird. Or something. Unsatisfying keypresses.

I should try that sometime. Try to really understand how the keyboard affects the creation process for me.

I'm not a Dell keyboard guy, but I get the importance. I'd be hardpressed to give up my Apple flat keyboard at this point; I like it a ton.

I've been using a couple of Dell keyboards for years. I can't say that I love them, but I'm used to them, and for the first one it was the best of the keyboards I had laying around the house. I like laptop keyboards better (or at least the Apple ones), but that's not much help at my current gig, or in any desktop setting.

Evaluating keyboards frustrates me the same way that evaluating mattresses does - trying one in the store isn't enough; you'd have to use it for a week or a month, and try a lot of different ones, and that's kind of impractical, so I stick with something that seems to be okay.

I totally <3 the Dell keyboards we had at Permabit, to the point where I made ITA buy me one (for $8 on ebay, so not a big deal). Vanu uses Dell too. For me the feel is fine, but the big win is how small the thing is.

I'll go to great lengths to get just the right mouse (or, at least, to get one that keeps me from ending the day feeling like my hand's been stretched on a rack). I'm not surprised there's people who feel just as strongly about keyboards.
