Aw, crap.

There I was, playing my Wii, swinging for the rafters in Wii Sports Baseball, when the cord snaps on the Wiimote and it flies out of my hand...

...and promptly smashes the screen on my iPhone.

Hmm, do they sell AppleCare on these things?

Well, it could happen!

Ha ha.. I was going to comment saying that I didn't believe you.

Yeah, there is a glaring absence of AppleCare or phone insurance, isn't there? Although, apparently the Apple stores have been very considerate of people breaking their screens on the first few days, replacing them free of charge. I'm sure that won't keep up, though.

Aha, AppleCare for iPhone will be available for $69 in July. It can be purchased anytime during the first year of the phone's lifetime, and extends the repair service to two years, up from the included one year.

There was actually a recall on some of the wii straps!

I was more worried for your TV in your mean, cruel story!

But if my TV got smushed it would be an excuse to get a modern one! :)

Oh, aren't I the consumer these days. Ugh.

Not a real story
Alas, this isn't a real story. It is the result a cruel fibber's twisted imagination.

Meanie, making me envision the death of an iphone like that.

We must now construct a Wiimote-cannon to determine the velocity at which this actually happens, Mythbusters style. Or maybe, like the apocryphal airplane-testing story, we'll have to freeze the Wiimote first.
