Con Report, day 1

"Blah blah blah yadda. And then you get a clue that says go over here. Blah blah blah yadda yadda. And then a fight breaks out."

On the other hand, there was some amount of fun silliness at the evening mod. But it was also, at times, infuriating silliness... the GM would start to answer a question with useful info that might potentially move plot (!) forward (!!), when another guy at the table would interrupt with a total sidetrack thing ("Did you know there's plague in the town?" "Whaaa? No!")

Not really getting to play with any of my friends.

Why am I here again?

Why? For noodles on Sunday, of course! :)

Was he wearing the Helm of Blatant Obviousness*?

* This is an item in the RPG plug in Murphy's World, where the GM could curse the wearer to constantly say obvious things, such as: "Gee... this rain is making me wet," or "Ogres sure are stupid."

Eternal Questions
Why are any of us here, indeed?

Oh, right. In your case, it's something like ``to play roleplaying games with a mixture of familiar and new people''. This carries with it an implicit ``..which hopefully don't suck.'', but sometimes it needs to be made explicit.

My memory of local cons was that there were too many known people to play with all of them, so I recommend the strategy of picking 1-3 to play with at any given time. A pair of people working in collusion can usually direct a full table, and 3 or 4 almost always can. Plus, it's nice when the other people turn out to be cool/helpful/interesting/colorful/long/list/of/adjectives.

Enjoy your con! Sorry I'm missing it...
