I answered "I knew that" because I think if you'd given me a true false question I would have got it right, but I don't think it was something that I could have told you if you had asked me to write an essay on Pac-Man

I said "Yes" then changed my answer because I realize I had misread your statement. I thought what controlled the speed was whether you were on a power pill or not.

In at least some variants of the game (I'm fairly sure the original arcade game had this property), the relative speed of Pac-Man and the ghosts is level dependent. I don't think your statement is universally correct.

Right, I think the actual speeds depend on the level, but that Pac-Man moves relatively faster when moving through clear space than when chomping. He also moves a bit faster around corners, which can be useful. Although, I doubt I have played Pac-Man in the past two decades, so I might be misremembering.

I had no idea. Of course, I was always more of a "Joust" kinda guy.

In other news, each of the four ghost AIs uses a different chasing heuristic. Which is an easy thing to get wrong if you try to do a Pac-man clone.
