. o O { I wonder if I could make $2500 if I sold all the computers I own right now... then I would be justified in replacing them all with one of the new Mac notebooks }

What are the computers you own now, and can I have one? ;)

Now, if you could have one, how would I make the money I need to replace all my computers with one über computer?

Um, I'd pay you for it.
Mostly.

I doubt it. Used computers just don't sell for that much.

Want to sell candles with me for a bit? I have made $200 at one show for 2-3 hours of work - you can get up to $2500 pretty fast...and it's a great way to meet people

:) can you tell I'm on a mission now?

nono, donate them to your friends, and then you'd be justified.

The only way anyone "deserves" a material good is if they can afford it. You can, from what I understand, so go for it. But it does seem a waste if you have computers.

However, if you didn't have computers, you'd NEED to get a computer. So get rid of 'em. Donate them to charity and take a tax write off. Or donate them to your needy friends.

Pointing to awfief in a frantic manner, while jumping up and down and nodding energetically...

The new machines look pretty darn nice, but it seems to me that it'd make more sense to hold off a bit until more programs are available in native binaries. I'd expect a particular online timesink wouldn't run very well in emulation, for example.

That said, I'm tempted to buy either the notebook or the iMac for my group, so that we can start porting things to it.
