watch me...

I'm going to be all environmentalist and not get a window AC this summer.

Yeah, right. I won't make it halfway through July.

I was always proud of my ability to live without AC, until I realized that when it got too hot, I just cheated and escaped to Nick's AC-ed space. (At home in CT was different - the breeze over the hills made the heat more bearable. Boston in July is a killer.)

Good luck. They'll probably be sold out by then anyway :)

$25 rebate from NStar if you buy an "Energy Star" efficient air conditioner. Be cool and environmentalist! http://www.myenergystar.com/AirConditioners.aspx?tab=rebates

I agree. As much as I paid $300 for my air conditioner, it's an energy star one (and there was no rebate at the time). On a scale of 8-10 with 8 being least efficient and 10 being most, the documentation rated my A/C as a 10.7. And I believe it, too -- last year our electric bill went up MAYBE $10-20 a month in the summer. MAYBE.

I have no window AC. But then again, i have lots of windows, a cross-draft, several decent box fans, and I'm generally out of the house for the several middle hours in the day...
