date grab

Saturday, May 22, I'm arriving in Boston in the morning. That evening I'd like to have a dinner mob... Trying to figure out how that could possibly work, logistically, though. I guess we could do the usual, go to Vinnie Testa's in Brookline, calling ahead. Alternately if enough people have cars we could all pile on out to Old Country Buffet at the Meadow Glen Mall. Comments/suggestions for not being utterly annoyed finding a place for a large mob to eat on a Saturday night?

Also, I'm thinkin' Sunday morning I'll want to get a bit of a dim sum mob for Chinatown. Emperor's Garden, or whatever that place built in the thater was called. Come to one or both events!

If possible, please don't make dim sum too early.

I'm happy to offer up a car for the meadow glen plan.

Vinnie's not very good for large groups anymore. Polcari's is good italian, might take reservations, and people say they were good for a mob. They're in tech square, so cars aren't a problem.

Does anyone actually mob to old country buffet?

No! That's the beauty of that particular plan :)

Of course, the weakness of the plan is that there's a reason they don't mob there.

...well, it's cheap. And there's plenty of parking.

But you can say the same for mcdonald's.

I've actually never eaten at Old Country Buffet, despite it being almost in walking distance of my home. But I'd be up for it.

And yeah, "Vinnie T's" (as they're now called) has gone downhill since The Day. So has Bertucci's; they're trying to go upscale and failing.

Or...
I could make soup and everyone could come over here if the cat infestation wouldn't slay anyone.

If you're up for that kind of shindig, I'd be grateful!

Well I will be in town, so I will try to meet up with you for one or the other. Saturday is Alex's birthday but as far as I know he hasn't made other dinner plans.

I would be much more interested in dum sim if it's at Chou Chow City, because I like their food better. No need to warp the event around my desires, of course. Just sayin'.

I'm interested in both, but might be in NY this weekend...if you want to keep me posted, though, I'd appreciate it (in case my travel plans punt).
