Dean... has a quote to explain to me

What the hell is up with this quote? (from The Washington Post)

"The most interesting theory that I've heard so far -- which is nothing more than a theory, it can't be proved -- is that he was warned ahead of time by the Saudis."

You can't go around saying crap like that, what's he thinking?

yeah, i've been... a little worried about Dean's international politics views... i don't know much about them, but the bits i've picked up haven't been too comforting.

Maybe I don't get the context well enough, but it doesn't sound that bad to me. He's saying that there's a conspiracy theory that Bush knew Sept 11 was going to happen? Well, isn't there a theory about everything bad that ever happened?

It reminds me of the warning some had before Pearl Harbor.

*shrug* I don't think anybody's saying, "Bush knew that thousands of people would die at this time on this date" and didn't care.

It's one of those cases where it's fine to know there's a conspiracy theory, but when someone in his position says so it makes it sound like he takes the conspiracy theory seriously. Which means he shouldn't say it unless there's a lot more evidence of the conspiracy than there is.

And there *are* people saying that Bush knew that thousands of people would die in an event like this and didn't take steps to stop it, or even approved it. I'm not convinced myself that it isn't true - although I certainly assume it's not, since there is no evidence to support it except that, well, it sure worked out well for him, didn't it?
